Samalia Williams (Canada / Belize)
I am a 200 hr Registered Yoga instructor (certified with The Yoga and Ayurveda Center N.J, U.S.) and a certified Reiki practitioner (OM Shanti, Belize). I am also a full time university student and a mom and a wife. My yoga journey began in 2014 with Michelle Williams at the OM Shanti Belize Yoga, Wellness & Retreat Center.
Since, my family and I have relocated to Canada and I have continued to develop my practice and now as a yoga teacher I offer yoga classes focused on restoration and healing. I also offer Kids yoga, Chair Yoga and Seniors Yoga. I have a relaxed- organized approach to my classes and incorporate meditation and breathing exercises (Pranayama).
Currently, I am in my last year of completing an Honours Bachelor of Psychology degree, minor in Philosophy with the intention to continue further studies. As a student my approach to meditation, chanting and mindfulness is both research supported, and insight based. I am continuing to explore different types of mindfulness, as well as the way our energy and behaviours are influenced by our thoughts.
As much as my approach to yoga and life as a whole is individualistic, as in I believe each individual has the power within to create the type of change or life they desire, it is also collective. As in, I also believe that as a collective we must work together and support each other as we continue to heal and grow.
