Maryam Abdul Qawiyy (Belize)
Maryam is an International Ambassador for ROC based in Belize. She is a writer, performance artist and renaissance woman. She has an MFA and is multi-talented across many fields and attributes this to her creative soul, which she is eternally grateful for. As a dramatist, Maryam has written and directed five original stage plays, which twice debuted at the Women in Art Belize opening 2014 and 2015, and was also a recipient of the Women in Art Artist Award in 2016. As a performance artist, she’s a featured soloist in Francis Reneau’s patriotic showcases, and most recently was in his Song of the People production. She is also an Egyptian Cabaret Belly-dancer and choreographer, and a member of the Belize National Dance company where she teaches Middle Eastern Dance. She is also a Yoga teacher certified through Om Shanti Belize (center and school for yoga & wellness) where she received encouragement to embark on a new adventure and dream to furthering her passion in the performance arts in New York City. When in Belize, Maryam travels the country offering Yoga sessions to women empowerment groups.
